On 1 May 2012, the amended Arbitration Rules of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission 2012 (the “Arbitration Rules”) will come into force. The Arbitration Rules have been jointly issued by the Chinese International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”) and the Chinese Chamber of International Commerce (“CCOIC”).
Under the Arbitration Rules, CIETAC’s scope of authorization now also covers disputes on contractual and non-contractual economic and trade activities. The Rules moreover contain provisions on arbitration procedures, arbitration decisions, fast-track procedures and special rules for arbitrations conducted in China.
The Arbitration Rules (in Chinese) can be found on the website of CIETAC.
